Sissy is a beautiful, gentle 9 year old black pit bull mix who has not had an easy life. She came to New York from an Ohio shelter several years ago, where she had been sitting for a very long time with no interest. She was brought to NY by another rescue group and eventually Diamonds In the Ruff took her as one of our own last year and we were able to find her a foster home and get her out of the kennel situation.
Sissy has some health issues, which, while causing some cosmetic issues at times, doesn’t slow her down one bit. She has had a long standing issue with what has been thought to be an auto immune disease. This means she has flares of hair loss and swelling in her feet at times. With a good veterinary plan, this is easily manageable and should never cause anyone to overlook her.
She is happy and energetic, yet well mannered. She is medium sized, weighing around 65 pounds and is not much of a puller. She enjoys going for runs when the weather is nice. She is housebroken and will need to be in a home without cats. Sissy can be dog selective and has gotten along with male dogs of her own size, but a proper meet would be needed with any potential dog siblings. She is gentle and loving and great with everyone she meets. Her absolute most favorite people in the world though, are kids. Sissy totally lights up at any event where there are children coming to see her!
She is very smart and aware of her surroundings and can sometimes appear aloof at events. This is only because she is checking out every thing around her and not a reflection on her personality! Once she knows you, she is so happy to see you and be near you that she will sing! She rides in the car with her head right on your shoulder! This sweet senior has so much love to give and is so deserving of a wonderful home.
For anyone who can see the rewards of providing a loving home for a senior dog who has been overlooked all her life, Sissy would be a wonderful companion and member of the family.
