One day, mid March of 2019, a dog named Ferris arrived at a farm all mangled up and bleeding. It was obvious he had been beaten or attacked. By who or what?  No one knows. 

Frankie was beat up, emaciated and HW positive.  He got on transport and at one of the stops - he jumped the fence and ran away, he was never seen again.  

One of our dedicated volunteers Erin and our AMAZING president Maria,  and with the help of Hamburg Mutts for Freedom, teamed up with 2 local women where he was last seen - Emily & Karen and a tracker, FOUND - Professional Pet Trackers / Carmen Brothers. Flyers were put everywhere! Villalobos Rescue Center was so kind to post him for us on their Facebook page! Carmen met up with Emily who lives close by to where he went missing and they set up a trap. There were no sightings.  Our hearts were broken and prayers were daily.  

One night Karen saw a post online where a dog similar to Ferris was being rehomed.  The family wanted more for him.  Karen let us know about the post and that she thought it was Ferris!  

Karen brought the dog to the vet and his microchip came back to DITR!!!  We were over the moon that our prayers had been answered OVER A YEAR LATER!!

Ferris nka Frankie arrived in Buffalo, transported by Karen and our amazing volunteer Wendy.    He’s the sweetest boy ever whose tail never stops!!!    He loves everyone he meets with a GIANT smile!
