Trudy was picked up as a stray and taken to a local shelter, but no one came to claim her.  She passed her Behavioral Assessment with flying colors & she quickly won over the shelter staff and volunteers with her sweet, calm and "dainty" demeanor.  

Sadly, she tested positive for Heartworm and x-rays indicated she'd been suffering with it for quite awhile.  Heartworm is not contageous and thankfully, Trudy's already receiveing treatment & is expected to make a complete recovery! 

Trudy get along with other dogs; as always a meet and greet with any resident or frequently visiting dogs is required. PLEASE NOTE - Trudy's time engaging with any high energy dogs would need to be kept to a minimum at this time and we're recommending a  home with only older, respectiful children due to her need for calm rest during her recovery. Children make Trudy extremely nervous so she will need a home without kids under 13 years old.  Cats a re unknown at this time; we will cat test her when she's further along with her treatment.

Trudy's  foster says she's a sweet, happy, well behaved girl who's definately grateful to be in a home!  She's got a stuffed bunny and a comfy, new bed that she adores!  She is crate trained & housebroken, but does like to walk around outside a bit before "taking care of business".  

Trudy requires specific care during her Heartworm treatment, which may last until Summer  2020.  She will need to see our vet monthly, get plenty of rest and is limited to slower paced walks and brief non-strenuous playtime to begin with; this will change as she progresses with her recovery.
