Iris came to Diamonds in dire straits. When Iris' owner decided to relinquish her to us, we immediately took her to the local emergency vet. Iris was very lethargic, non responsive, had an open wound on her belly (turned out to be mastitis), and had signs of abuse all over her face and front legs. Her first vet appointment EVER, resulted in the removal of 5 mammory glands, being pumped full of fluids, cleaned up, stitched up, and medicated.
Iris has been in a foster home since November 2012 and here are Notes from her foster Mom: Iris loves to be within eyesight without being in my way; she loves car rides and waiting for me in the car while visiting or shopping. Loves the car!!
She is good being left alone all day as long as she has a window to look out to keep her eye on things. She walks well on her leash but isn't fond of some cars going by if you walk on the street. She doesn't bark - just pulls toward the car for some reason. Other cars, I can give her a little pull and she just keeps walking. She would be best at being the only animal in your home. There is very minimal hair to clean up - Very good point in my book! She has not shown any growling or anger toward me while dragging her off my couch, putting medicine in her ear, or taking away a bone. She would probably be on your lap all day if you let her, but I don't, so she lies next to my couch and is quite satisfied with that.
If you think you could give Iris the home and life of a Queen, then let's setup a meet and great.
www.diamondsintheruffanimalrescue.comShe would do very well in a home with children as she loves kids of all ages. She is an easygoing dog who just needs a warm blanket to lay on.
