We pulled Billie, along with his friend Allie from Cleveland Animal Control. Billie and Allie were on Death Row, their time up, when CAC received DITR's application to pull from their shelter.
Six hours in a car, on the ride home, and to a better life. Before coming to the rescue, his first stop was at a local vet to get a check up. Unfortunately, his first exam showed that he was heavily infested with heartworms.(Along with being heartworm positive, he also had kennel cough) In fact, we were told it looked like one of the worst infestations that they had ever seen. One of the choices presented was euthanasia.
Before making any decisions, and just like we humans would do when we get horrible news about our health, Billie went for a second opinion.
Billie's next stop was Nickel City Animal Hospital for further tests/exams. They ran the necessary tests and came back confirming what we already knew. They confirmed he was Stage 2. (Stage 3 patients have a fatality rate of five to twenty percent. Medical treatment is contraindicated in Stage 4.)
So now we are on a mission: To provide Billie with the best care, best treatment, so that we can find him the best forever home this boy could ever possibly imagine.
Billie thanks each and every one of his supporters who have sent him well wishes, prayers, and kept him in their thoughts.

The market is open on Sundays from 9am to 1pm starting June 23rd & ending October 13th.
