Mercy came into our rescue along with her daughter, Boo Boo. The girls both had medical issues from years of neglect and were severely underweight. Boo Boo had been spayed, but Mercy wasn’t, and her body condition indicates she'd been overbred for years. Despite all this, the girls are as sweet as can be!
Mercy is estimated to be around 5 1/2 years old. It seems she didn't receive as much socialization or love from people in the past as her daughter did. She can be a bit shy and while she's extremely sweet and loving, she can also be a bit stubborn & needs to be redirected if she sets her mind on doing something she shouldn't. We have a trainer who'll be working with Mercy to help her heal emotionally and gain independent confidence. In order to set her up for success, we’re making the following recommendations at this time:
She will need a solid decompression period to allow her to get used to her new home, realize she’s safe & relax. An experienced, confident person who's able to provide a calm, stable environment and a solid routine would help her flourish!
We're recommending a home without kids for now; Mercy will need to be crated if children come to visit, to ensure their energy doesn't cause her stress
Mercy gets along with dogs her size (but not smaller than her). At this time, we're recommending a home with no other dogs or a way to keep Mercy completely separated from them until our trainer advises differently. If our trainer approves a meet & greet with another dog(s), she will facilitate the meet and provide guidance. Mercy failed her cat test, so cats and other small animals are a "no" for her. She is crate and house trained.
