Boo Boo came into our rescue along with her mom, Mercy.  They have a heartbreaking history; their owner had to move out of her home on short notice and had nowhere for her dogs to go, so she made an appointment to surrender them to a shelter with a high kill rate. Fortunately, these two girls touched the hearts of local animal rescuers and they reached out to us to save them! 

The girls both had medical issues from years of neglect and were severely underweight. Boo Boo had been spayed, but Mercy hadn’t, and her body condition indicates she'd been over bred for years. We recently had Mercy spayed and were saddened to learn there was a cyst on one of her ovaries that could've caused a serious health risks if it hadn't been caught in time.  Despite all this, the girls are as sweet as can be!  One of our trainers recommends we separate them, to allow both girls to find their own identity and allow their individual personalities to blossom.

 

Boo Boo is estimated to be around 3 1/2 years old.  She soaks up the love and appears to have a goofy personality that will come out even more as she settles in.  She learns quickly, is obedient, easy to train, friendly and loving.  She was cat tested and was totally calm; bordering on uninterested.  She’s much more interested in spending time with and receiving attention from people!  She is crate & house trained.

Boo Boo will need to be kept separate from any other pets in the home until she’s completed a decompression period to allow her to get used to her new home, realize she’s safe & relax.  We haven’t had Boo Boo around other dogs; a meet & greet with any resident or frequently visiting dogs would be required.  Boo Boo hasn’t been around children since coming into our rescue either, so we're recommending only older (12+ yrs), respectful children.
